Spelt is one of the oldest grains in the world, hence the alternative name ‘primal grain’. This grain is easily digestible and contains plenty of proteins, vitamins and minerals. As early as in the 12th century, Hildegard von Bingen recorded the benefits of spelt – which are still valid today! For our BBROOD spelt bread we use a mix of four types of spelt: Bauländer, Franckenkorn, Schwabenkord and Badengold; these are the purest types, best for baking.

This makes our spelt so tender and fully tasty, with the yummy crispy crust created by baking in a stone floor oven. Tempting, isn’t it?
